When I received my words, I thought of the Oriental fabric that had been waiting in my stash and chose it for the center of my quilt. In it I see the HORIZONS of CHINA, with the white crane symbolizing HOPE, flying above the MOUNTAINS.

The block pattern is "Delectable Mountains". I used the COLORS from the Oriental fabric to choose the other fabrics and tried to use them to create perspective similar to actual mountains, bright in the center (near) to faded at the edges (far).

The Chinese character for "hope" is embroidered in the border.
