Take out your ribbon or lace and lay it diagonal over the centers where the seams meet as shown. For a nice weave effect have your ribbons go "over and under". Secure at the meeting points and ends with pins.

If you don't want to finish here, go on to Step 3.

Now if you are lazy cut your backing and batting to the size of your top. Put the top on the batting. Sew 3 loops from the accent fabric (or use also the ribbon) and pin them to the top edge, loops showing to the center. Lay the backing face to face on top and step around through all layers with a 1/4 inch from the edge. Leave an 4 inch opening for turning. Turn the quilt and work out the corners and edges nicely, closing the opening by hand. Step again 1/4 inch from the edge all around. For the final go to Step 5.
